Hello Raul,
suffering from hip-arthrosis since about 3 years I can follow your argument very good. It looks alright on your last pic as all these alloy-parts somehow flow into each other.
Maybe later you might try to form a bigger panel, enlongating it at the front towards the carb and the gearbox. But firstly, get the beast running and afterwards, start juggling with designs like side-panels and so on ...

How about using one of those mighty LiFePO4-accumulator packs everybody talks about? These fit virtually everywhere, are much smaller and lighter but can provide very high current for an electric starter.
On the other hand, why not get rid of all the sheetmetal and use an old style dummy to cover up the battery? That'd at least give it an old school look.
